Intern – Implementation of vehicle planning module


As an active member of the smart navigation revolution industry, our research group aims to transform an electric vehicle into a fully autonomous car. In this context, multiple topics are proposed for mid-to long-term internships. We aim to offer a stimulating environment, working on high-tech autonomous vehicle platforms with the latest high-tech sensors (Robosense Lidars, Microstrains IMUs, Novatel RTK-DGPS……).

    Motion planning is one of the core functionalities which greatly influence the overall performance of the autonomous vehicle. The robustness and accuracy of autonomous vehicles motion planning algorithms are critical in order to avoid system failure which can cause potential danger for the passengers. For this purpose, we aim to implement state-of-the-art planning algorithms in ROS environment. The mission of the intern is, initially, to integrate ApolloAuto (one of the world-leading autonomous vehicles software architecture provider) planning module into our customized framework. Afterwards, based on the performances, the intern will optimize/nurture the various algorithms by considering the specificities of our vehicle (Kia Soul 2018).

    Required profile

    We are interested in recruiting students for an internship of minimum 6 months.

    • Programming language: C++/Python
    • Tools: ROS1
    • Experience: Strong knowledge and experience with machine learning techniques. Candidates with solid mathematical background are encouraged to apply.
